To make a baked apple, you'll need a few simple ingredients and an oven. Here's a basic recipe for baked apples:

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium-sized apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar or granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup water or apple juice

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Wash the apples thoroughly and remove the cores using an apple corer or a small knife. Make sure not to cut all the way through the apple—just remove the core and seeds, leaving the bottom intact.

  3. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar (or granulated sugar), chopped nuts (if using), cinnamon, and nutmeg.

  4. Stuff each apple with the sugar and spice mixture, dividing it equally among the apples. If you have any remaining mixture, sprinkle it over the top of the apples.

  5. Place the stuffed apples in a baking dish, and dot each apple with a small amount of softened butter.

  6. Pour the water or apple juice into the baking dish around the apples. This will help keep them moist during baking.

  7. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven.

  8. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until the apples are tender. You can check for doneness by inserting a fork into the apples. They should be soft but still hold their shape.

  9. Once baked, remove the foil and allow the apples to cool slightly before serving. The juices in the baking dish can be spooned over the apples as a sauce if desired.

  10. Serve the baked apples warm as is or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or caramel sauce for extra indulgence.

Enjoy your delicious homemade baked apples!
