The mapping capabilities of robotic vacuum cleaners can vary depending on the model and technology used. most consumer-grade robotic vacuum cleaners do not have the capability to create and store maps for multiple floor levels. They are designed to work effectively on a single floor level at a time.

When a robot vacuum is placed on a new floor level, it typically starts mapping and navigating that specific area from scratch. The previous map from the other floor level is not retained. This is because the layout and obstacles can be different between floors, and the robot needs to create a new map to optimize its cleaning pattern for that particular level.

Some high-end or more advanced robotic vacuum cleaners might have features like multi-floor mapping, where they can store and recognize maps for different floor levels. However, as of my last knowledge update, this capability was not widespread in consumer-grade models.

If you require a robotic vacuum cleaner to clean multiple floor levels, you may need to manually carry or place the robot on each level and let it map and clean independently. Alternatively, you could consider purchasing separate robot vacuum cleaners for each floor level to streamline the cleaning process. Always check the product specifications and features of the specific model you are interested in to see if it supports multi-floor mapping or if it is designed for single-floor use.
