No, you cannot use normal pots on an induction stove. Induction stoves work through electromagnetic induction, which requires cookware made of ferrous (magnetic) materials to generate heat. Regular pots and pans made from materials like aluminum, copper, glass, and some stainless steel are not compatible with induction stoves because they do not contain enough magnetic properties.

To check if your cookware is suitable for induction stoves, perform the magnet test: Place a magnet on the bottom of the pot or pan. If the magnet sticks firmly to the bottom surface, it is induction-compatible. If the magnet does not stick or only weakly adheres, the cookware will not work on an induction stove.

Cookware that is specifically labeled as "induction-ready" or "induction-compatible" is made of magnetic materials like cast iron or certain types of stainless steel. These materials allow the induction stove to create a magnetic field, generating heat directly within the cookware, and thus heating the food.

If you have non-induction-compatible cookware but still want to use it on an induction stove, you can purchase a separate induction disc or interface disk. This is a flat metal disc that you place on the induction burner, and it acts as an intermediary between the stove and the non-magnetic cookware, allowing you to use it for cooking. However, keep in mind that using an induction disc may reduce the efficiency and speed of cooking compared to using induction-ready cookware directly on the stove.
