Slow-cooked ribs can be incredibly tender and flavorful. Here's a delicious and popular slow cooker recipe for ribs:

Slow Cooker BBQ Ribs

Ingredients:

  • 2 racks of baby back ribs (about 4 pounds)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Start by preparing the ribs: Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs (this helps the flavors penetrate better). Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.

  2. Mix the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt in a bowl to make the dry rub.

  3. Rub the dry seasoning mixture all over the ribs, making sure to coat them evenly.

  4. Pour half of the barbecue sauce into the slow cooker and spread it to cover the bottom.

  5. Place the seasoned ribs into the slow cooker, standing them up on their side with the meaty side facing the wall of the crockpot.

  6. Pour the remaining barbecue sauce over the ribs, ensuring they are fully coated.

  7. Cook the ribs on low heat for 6 to 8 hours or on high heat for 3 to 4 hours. The longer and slower you cook them, the more tender they will become.

  8. When the cooking time is up, carefully remove the ribs from the slow cooker and place them on a baking sheet.

  9. Optionally, you can baste the ribs with some additional barbecue sauce from the slow cooker to add more flavor.

  10. Broil the ribs in the oven for about 5 minutes to caramelize the sauce and give them a nice finish. Keep an eye on them during this step to avoid burning.

  11. Once the ribs are done, let them rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Enjoy your fall-off-the-bone tender BBQ ribs! You can serve them with your favorite sides like coleslaw, cornbread, or baked beans for a classic barbecue meal.
