Here's the recipe:
Ingredients:
- 4 pounds boneless pork shoulder or pork butt
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
- 1/2 cup chicken broth or water
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to your spice preference)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Hamburger buns or rolls for serving
Instructions:
In a bowl, mix together the BBQ sauce, chicken broth (or water), apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
Place the pork shoulder or pork butt in the crock-pot and pour the BBQ sauce mixture over it, ensuring the meat is well coated.
Cover the crock-pot with the lid and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours or on HIGH for 4 to 6 hours. The pork is done when it easily shreds with a fork.
Once the pork is cooked and tender, remove it from the crock-pot, and shred the meat using two forks.
Return the shredded pork to the crock-pot and mix it with the remaining sauce. Let it cook for an additional 30 minutes on LOW to allow the flavors to meld.
Serve the BBQ pulled pork on hamburger buns or rolls, and enjoy!
This Southern-style BBQ pulled pork is perfect for sandwiches or sliders and pairs well with coleslaw, pickles, or your favorite side dishes. It's a crowd-pleaser for gatherings and potlucks, and the slow-cooking process ensures the pork is incredibly tender and infused with rich flavors.
