Microwaves have a relatively high frequency compared to many other forms of electromagnetic radiation. Microwaves are a type of electromagnetic radiation with frequencies ranging between approximately 300 MHz (megahertz) and 300 GHz (gigahertz).

In the electromagnetic spectrum, microwaves fall between radio waves and infrared waves. They have longer wavelengths and lower frequencies than infrared waves but shorter wavelengths and higher frequencies than radio waves. The specific frequency range for microwaves is often divided into different bands, such as L-band, S-band, C-band, X-band, Ku-band, and K-band, among others.

Microwaves are used in various applications, including communication systems, radar, wireless networks, and, of course, microwave ovens. In microwave ovens, microwaves with a frequency of around 2.45 GHz are generated to heat food by exciting water molecules through a process known as dielectric heating.
