Removing lint from new towels is a common task, and there are a few methods you can try:
Washing with vinegar: Before using the new towels, wash them separately in the washing machine with a cup of white vinegar. Vinegar helps loosen and release lint, making it easier to remove.
Shaking and tapping: Take the towels outside and give them a good shake. Then, hang them on a clothesline or over a railing and gently tap or beat them with your hands to dislodge any loose lint.
Lint roller or tape: Use a lint roller or wide adhesive tape to pick up lint from the surface of the towels. Roll the lint roller over the towels, or press the adhesive side of the tape against the fabric and lift it away to pick up the lint.
Dryer sheets: Rub a dryer sheet over the surface of the towels. The anti-static properties of the dryer sheet can help reduce static cling and pick up some of the lint.
Washing again: If the towels still have a significant amount of lint after trying the previous methods, you can wash them again, this time with a few old towels or a piece of high-quality microfiber cloth. The added friction from the old towels or microfiber can help attract and trap the lint.
Lint brush or fabric shaver: You can use a lint brush or fabric shaver designed for removing lint and pills from fabrics. These tools can be effective in removing lint, especially from more delicate towel materials.
Remember that new towels tend to shed lint more during the initial few washes, and this is normal. After a few washes and regular use, the lint shedding should decrease significantly. Also, avoid washing the towels with lint-producing items like fleece blankets or clothing with a lot of lint to minimize the issue in the future.
