To hook up a power cord to an electric stove, please follow these general steps:

  1. Make sure the stove is unplugged from the power outlet and ensure the circuit breaker or fuse for the stove is turned off.

  2. Locate the terminal block on the back of the stove. It is typically a metal plate with screw terminals.

  3. Remove the cover on the terminal block by unscrewing the screws holding it in place.

  4. Take the power cord and strip about half an inch (1.3 cm) of the insulation from the end of each wire (usually there are three wires: black, white, and green or bare copper).

  5. Thread the power cord through the hole in the strain relief clamp. This is a device that holds the power cord in place and prevents it from being pulled out accidentally.

  6. Attach the green or bare copper wire (the ground wire) to the grounding screw or terminal on the terminal block. Tighten the screw securely.

  7. Connect the white wire (neutral wire) to the center terminal on the terminal block. Tighten the screw securely.

  8. Connect the black wire (hot wire) to one of the outer terminals on the terminal block. Tighten the screw securely.

  9. Replace the terminal block cover and secure it with the screws.

  10. Make sure the power cord is properly secured in the strain relief clamp to prevent any strain on the wires.

  11. Double-check all the connections to ensure they are tight and secure.

  12. Plug the power cord into the appropriate power outlet.

  13. Turn on the circuit breaker or replace the fuse for the stove.

It's important to note that electrical work can be dangerous if not done correctly. If you're unsure or uncomfortable with any step, it's recommended to consult a professional electrician to ensure the proper and safe installation of the power cord.
