A window air conditioner cannot run without power. It requires a continuous supply of electricity to function. Once the power is disconnected, the air conditioner will stop running immediately.

Unlike some other appliances or devices that may have built-in batteries or capacitors to provide temporary power, window air conditioners do not have such backup systems. When the power supply is interrupted or disconnected, the air conditioner's compressor and fan, which are responsible for cooling the air, will shut down.

If you experience a power outage or need to turn off the air conditioner, you'll have to manually switch it off using the controls on the unit or through the remote control. Once power is restored, you'll need to turn the air conditioner on again for it to resume cooling.

Keep in mind that using a generator or an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to provide power to a window air conditioner during power outages can be dangerous and is not recommended unless the specific model of the air conditioner is designed to work with such backup systems. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions and safety guidelines for your window air conditioner.
