Heating the Air: The dryer uses an electric heating element or a heat pump to warm up the air within the drum. The heated air circulates through the clothes, causing moisture to evaporate and turn into water vapor.
Moisture Extraction: Instead of venting the moist air outside, a ventless dryer extracts the moisture from the air using one of two methods:
a. Condensation: In a condenser dryer, the hot, moisture-laden air is passed through a condenser unit. The condenser cools the air, causing the water vapor to condense into liquid water. The condensed water is then collected in a reservoir or drained out through a hose.
b. Heat Pump: A heat pump dryer uses a refrigeration system and a heat exchanger to remove moisture from the air. The warm, humid air passes through the heat exchanger, where the moisture condenses into water. The heat pump then reuses the released heat to further warm the air, improving energy efficiency.
Air Circulation: The dryer continues to circulate the warm, dry air through the clothes, repeating the heating and moisture extraction process until the clothes are dry.
Cool-Down Phase: Towards the end of the drying cycle, the dryer may enter a cool-down phase where cooler air is circulated to help reduce wrinkles and make the clothes more comfortable to handle.
It's important to note that ventless dryers require periodic maintenance, such as cleaning or replacing filters and emptying the water reservoir (in the case of condenser dryers) to ensure optimal performance.
